About this watch

Complete with the Extract from the Archives document from Patek Philippe, confirming the details of the piece.

This historic and highly significant unique ref.130 is the only 1 known and represents a once a collection opportunity. Not only is it the only known ref.130 which is time-only with subsidiary second, but to make it even more special, it is also the only ref.130 of any type known with a grand feu enamel dial. It is also one of the very first examples of the reference ever made, having been manufactured in 1933, a year before the 130 monopoussier was released. This watch forms a truly important part of the history of the brand and redefines the history of the reference 130, one of Patek Philippe's earliest references.

Typically of course the reference 130 is known either for the highly coveted monopoussier chronographs or two button chronograph iterations of the reference. Reference 130 monopoussier chronograph are extremely rare and highly sort after by collectors. This unique example shares exactly the same Emile Vichet case as its monopoussier chronograph counter part, but instead houses a 12" lines lever escapement time-only calibre with subsidiary seconds. The case is large in proportion at approx 33mm and with a large 20mm lug gauge. The celebrated 130 shaped case has very attractive proportions and the concave stepped bezel is an iconic form.

The captivating grand feu enamel dial of this piece, features oversized telephone numerals which are captivating and it is double stamped with “Union” for the original retailer of this important piece, Union Suiza in Barcelona. One of the earliest ref.130 ever made, this stunning piece has such personality and sits with real presence on the wrist. The white enamel dial and oversized numerals really open up the watch and make it feel large and substantial on the wrist, whilst also providing a very clean and eye catching aesthetic.

Featuring a 12" lever escapement, manually wound movement, this unique time only 130 is 1 of just 2 known time-only examples of the reference ever known. Of the two time only examples, the first is a sector dial, centre seconds example which we recently sold and the second is this piece, with grand feu dial and subsidiary seconds, each one unique in their own right. Both feature the same case type as the typical monopoussier iterations of the reference, made by Emile Vichet look just like their chronograph counterparts.
